New information about Mariam and her family: Mariam was born in February 2024. She came into this world without a father. Her father, Ahmad Mahmoud Ghanem, was slaughtered in an Israeli strike in December 2023, two months before she was born. Now Mariam has lost her mother, too. Her mother, Reem Awad, was burned alive before her little daughter’s eyes in an Israeli strike. Mariam survived, but she is suffering from third-degree burns. Reem and Ahmad had waited four years to conceive Mariam. Four years of waiting and hoping to bring a child into this world. Ahmad never lived to see his daughter’s face. Reem lived long enough to watch her little girl grow for two and a half years before she was burned alive in front of her. Now Mariam is an orphan, fighting to survive her horrific burns.
