Frequently Asked Questions

This Frequently Asked Questions (“FAQ”) document accompanies the UpScrolled Community Guidelines, Terms of Service, and Privacy Policy. Terms not defined here have the meanings set forth in those governing documents.

UpScrolled was founded to provide a global social media platform that supports lawful expression, genuine connection, and transparent community engagement. The platform was developed in response to user concerns about hidden algorithmic suppression, selective content restrictions, and inconsistent moderation on existing social networks, and is intended to promote fairness, clarity, and trust while maintaining responsible and lawful community standards.

UpScrolled does not engage in viewpoint-based censorship. Content is only restricted, removed, or otherwise moderated when it violates the UpScrolled Community Guidelines or applicable law. Prohibited conduct includes, but is not limited to, illegal activity, hate speech, harassment, bullying, explicit sexual content that violates the Community Guidelines, unlicensed copyrighted material, and conduct intended to cause harm. Enforcement actions are applied consistently and transparently in accordance with the Community Guidelines.

Never. UpScrolled does not and will not “shadow ban” or covertly suppress content. The platform’s moderation approach is grounded in transparency and fairness: Users will be informed when content is removed or restricted under the Community Guidelines, and will have access to any available appeals processes. UpScrolled’s systems do not secretly limit visibility based on viewpoint alone.

UpScrolled does not share user data with third parties for marketing, profiling, or commercial purposes. User personal data may only be disclosed as required by applicable law, such as in response to a valid court order or other lawful process, and in compliance with the UpScrolled Privacy Policy.

UpScrolled provides users with a space to connect, express themselves, and share content in compliance with the Community Guidelines and applicable law.

No. UpScrolled offers a Following Feed that displays posts in strict chronological order from accounts a User chooses to follow, and a Discover Feed that uses transparent, user-centric signals such as engagement and recency to support content discovery.

Web and desktop versions are under consideration.

UpScrolled’s primary infrastructure and core servers are hosted in Dublin, Ireland, chosen for its robust legal protections for personal data and strong connectivity. To support global performance, UpScrolled also leverages reputable content delivery networks (CDNs) and edge infrastructure. UpScrolled is transparent about its use of third-party cloud providers and continually evaluates data hosting practices in light of evolving regulatory requirements.

No. UpScrolled is not a news organization, publisher, or media entity. Users are responsible for the content they share. UpScrolled facilitates expression and connection but does not produce editorial content or curate news on behalf of third parties.

Probably. Advertising is a likely feature in UpScrolled’s roadmap.

No. UpScrolled was born from a response to censorship concerns but is intended for a broad community of users, including creators, businesses, storytellers, educators, and everyday social participants. The platform welcomes lawful use by all who abide by the Community Guidelines.

Yes. UpScrolled uses industry-standard encryption for data in transit (e.g., TLS) and at rest on its servers. Sensitive credentials, such as passwords, are hashed using modern cryptographic techniques. Public content remains unencrypted end-to-end because it is intended for broad visibility, but remains secure in transit and at rest. Optional end-to-end encryption for private messages is planned and will be disclosed before launch. While UpScrolled employs reasonable security measures, no system can guarantee absolute protection against all threats, and certain data may remain unencrypted or otherwise accessible in specific circumstances. Users are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their own login credentials, selecting strong passwords, and taking appropriate precautions to safeguard their accounts.

Yes. UpScrolled plans to introduce creator monetization tools, including payouts, branded content opportunities, and mechanisms for communities to support creators directly.

Gabriella Bord

MD & Co-Founder at DNA

Gabriella Bord

MD & Co-founder at DNA

For Gabriella Bord, real connection starts with uncensored truth. As Co-Founder of DNA—the content agency with the content platform for brands—she helps corporations scale their content ecosystems. Yet her entrepreneurial journey, which has included building everything from content agencies to a helicopter company, has shown her how traditional platforms prioritise profit over people. That’s why she’s also a strategic partner to UpScrolled, creating digital spaces where marginalised communities can share their truth without filters or fear.

Having worked with global brands while advocating for Palestinian rights in professional spaces, Gabriella understands the power of authentic storytelling. She champions the entrepreneurs, creators, and communities who refuse to be silenced by algorithmic censorship.
